CHAPTER OFFICER INDUCTION
On September 26, 2014 early in the school year, our FBLA chapter officers were inducted into office. Our district president, Shelby Winter, made the trip from Hoehne to help induct our officers in. Our 10 officers have took on the responsibility of making decisions for the chapter and run the chapter meetings. The officers for this year are: Devin Camacho, Rebecca Smith, Leah Roberson, Kyrah Guerin, Sam Bartolo, Bethann Traver, Austin Adame, Kellie Hirakata, Tyler Horiuchi, and Josh Knabenshue. We look forward to seeing what our officers are made of this year!
AMERICAN FREE ENTERPRISE DAY
On November 20, 2014 the business class and some FBLA members took an hour of their time to teach younger kids about Free Enterprise Day. The FBLA members and business class had a guest speaker come in and talk. They aimed to teach the 6th graders entrepreneurship and to create an awareness on how the free enterprise system works. Also it was intended to give the younger students a head start on thinking about opening up their own business. Free Enterprise Day turned out to be a big success due to the 6th graders interacting in the activities.
MARCH OF DIMES VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
On November 15, 2014, just before winter sports started, we had our annual 4 on 4 March of Dimes Volleyball Tournament. Anyone could play if they were in Jr. High or older. The money made went to the March of Dimes Foundation to help premature birth, birth defects, and infant immortality. Every year we must do a fundraiser for March of Dimes, so this is a great way to raise money.
fbla district 7 leadership conference
On February 3rd, our chapter made the 15 minute drive to Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado, for our district leadership conference. We attended various workshops about business and also about what we could do for our future. Also, many of our members had live events and went to present throughout the day. Our guest speaker talked about how you need to carry yourself when events happen. He said the event + your reaction = your outcome. After the guest speaker was done, we went to eat lunch and then came back for award ceremonies. About 40 members will be going to the state conference and hopefully on to nationals in Chicago!
National fbla-pbl week
February 9-13 was our FBLA week. During the week we had many fun things planned. One day we met during lunch and had an ice cream social. Another day we dressed up in business clothes. Also we did community service and sold roses because it was around Valentines Day. Even though the week was really busy due to other events going on, FBLA week was still fun!
